I ordered a coffee table last week. They were going to charge me $50 to deliver it, $50 to put it together, and $45 for a three year insurance plan. My coffee table only cost $120, but I got it marked down to $80 because it was tagged wrong in the store.
I have to wonder what the sales person was thinking when he offered me $145 worth of services on an $80 purchase. Is it required for salespeople to offer useless options to customers?
I worked as a flooring specialist for several years. We were required to offer service plans and insurance on carpet purchases- but sometimes they are useful, but only for the right dollar invested. I would have never offered someone a two hundred dollar plan on a three hundred dollar purchase. I'm not stupid, and I would never offend someone in that way.
So I go to the warehouse today to pick up my table and I hand the attendant my sales slip, and he disappears for fifteen minutes. He comes back with his face beet red with an enormous box on a moving dolly. I was thinking that there is no way that could be my little coffee table, but more importantly- I was thinking there is NO way that enormous box is going to fit in my car!
$50 delivery fee on a $80 table. Is this for real? I wasn't going to be having any of that! So the brilliant Toyota car manufactures saw this one coming. They built my car with a fully collapsible back seat, and an opening under the rear speakers juuuuust big enough to fit this box in! Thank you Toyota! The attendant was laughing. He didn't think it was going to fit in the car... Good times... Good times.
It leads me to my thought for the day. Would this furniture manufacturer make its packaging too big for the actual product just so the customer would have to pay a delivery fee? No... It can't be... Not in the age of too big cars and SUV's... Never.
I am now going to sit in a quiet area and write Toyota a nice, hand written(in perfect cursive) thank you note for being so intuitive to my cars needs!
Oh yeah- Almost forgot! The coffee table went together in under 10 minutes and looks great in my living room!

Well that makes you the 2nd (e:strip) girl that has been offered that and post about it. Why don't two girls ever offer me a threesome. I have never been aproached my self. Not sure if it is a crowd. One factor is if it was a guy and a girl, two guys or two girls. I can't say if you should go (or gone) with it or not. It all depends on your comfort level and how far the couple wants you to go and if you would be comfortable. Not to mention there are stright 3somes and bi 3somes with a guy and a girl. I say go for it if you think you might enjoy it.

I need help.
I had a run in with a very angry driver last night on Delaware Ave. It wasn't pleasant. I had dropped a friend off at home around midnight last night and on the way home I almost got into two accidents. One of them was a lovely man who decided to run the stop light at Allen and Delaware, the second was... duh duh duuuuuh... the traffic circle! Gates Circle- I've always loved it, but I always hate driving around it. No matter what I do I almost get into an accident.
So here is the story.
Drop friend off out on Pearl Street. Turn around, come home Delaware. Avoid evil driver at Allen. Approach Gates Circle with four other cars. I have to turn down Lafayette and the other four cars are in both lanes going fast, obviously planning on continuing down Delaware. (MAP TO: 33%20GATES%20CIRCLE) I tried to get them all to pass me so I could have open access to the circle, but no. One evil driver decided to get on the inside of the circle. interesting. i've never had an issue there. i love roundabouts. i think they make more sense without stop signs though.

Chances are you won't get a ticket in the city, unless it is for parking. Otherwise you just have to learn how to survive in the circle of death.

The first time I seriously drove around Buffalo after moving up here, I nearly got into an accident at that circle. For me, having cars approaching from the directions they did violated my usual expectations about how cars act.
I'm used to it now, but I try my best to cut around using Forest+Elmwood since that circle's more trouble than it's worth.

The only rules as far as I know are to a)yield to the cars already in the circle before going in, and b)although this is unwritten - NEVER switch lanes once you are in the circle when its busy. If you know you are turning off rather quickly, make sure you are hugging right side before you enter the circle.

I saw a sticker on a light post at Delaware Ave by Gates Circle. [Estrip.ORG]... What on earth? So here I am!
An entire lifetime spent in Western New York, but now, at 25 I move to Elmwood Village! I moved here last weekend- It's bittersweet in a way. I moved out here to be closer to my friends, and now that I made the move they're all moving away.
I need to meet people, and to be quite honest I think I've forgotten how to. I am a loner in a way, I guess I've always marched to the beat of my own drum- but in a very classic sort of way. I speak my mind and do as I please, and I manage to offend people by doing so. I come off bold, sarcastic, and snobby- but you'll see through my posts that I am witty, intelligent, and obsessed with the well being of others. I am real, just like everyone else... I've posted blogs in the past with great response- So sit back and get ready for the time of your life. I'm looking forward to being able to share my thoughts and life again!

Um... Paul what that kid did was definitely shady and if his boss knew about it, would probably get him fired. Also remember that if its not the company that is technically delivering your product that the company will not be liable for theft or damages. I would never do it.
That's why I love ikea. My car is teensy-weensy, but I can fit tons of stuff from ikea in there.
And, I LOVE putting stuff together. I would probably pay people NOT to assemble it for me. :)
The other day at FWS some woman wanted to have something delivered and the store clerk said that the store charges $60 to deliver the item, but that he would deliver to her himself for $25. It seemed weird that a clerk would be allowed to undercut his employer but made me wonder if I should be asking about "udner the table" kind of services like that in the future.
